For a long time now I have admired the beautiful coastal town of Termoli, its medieval hsitorical centre and the Swabian castle, it turn’s out that it is possible it exhibit there. The promontory is narrowing yet expansive, where you feel like you a teetering on the edge of the globe, luscious coloured walls and succulents with a gracious square. The castle’s origins date back to the 11th century and the Normans, of particular interest are some charcoal inscriptions dating back to the 18th century found in the lower rooms of the castle which were used as a prison at that time. These are names, dates and in some cases the reasons for detention. On the south-east wall you can read “alla trasuta... ammazzai”. In 1902 the Swabian castle became a national monument and in 1909 the Navy occupied the highest part of the tower, building a meterological tower. The simplistic sandstone structure once was the most prominent defensive post on the Molisan Adriatic coast. On the first floor is the Archers corridor with many loopholes, I get a sense of being right on the edge of a tumulus crashing sea and the space offers both safety and connections to the roaring elements. The first night was wet & windy, the structure housed clatters, slams, rattles and the cooing of pigeons seeking respite on ledges, I read in the Bourbon prison cell and waited for friendly trusted faces.

Termoli benefits form a Conteporary art gallery called MACTE that has a rolling set of annual exhibitions from renowned world artists.

L'inverno sta arrivando nonostante il clima molto mite, la mia terapia dell'acqua fredda è iniziata ma non ha ancora raggiunto i minimi, i benefici comunque sono forti e notevoli.

Da molto tempo ormai ammiro la bellissima città costiera di Termoli, il suo centro storico medievale e il Castello Svevo, si scopre che è possibile esporre lì. Il promontorio si sta restringendo ma espansivo, dove ti senti come in bilico sul bordo del globo, pareti dai colori lussureggianti e piante grasse con un graziosa piazza. Le origini del castello risalgono all'XI secolo e ai Normanni, di particolare interesse sono alcune iscrizioni a carboncino risalenti al XVIII secolo rinvenute nelle stanze inferiori del castello che all'epoca erano adibite a carcere. Si tratta di nomi, date e in alcuni casi i motivi del fermo. Sulla parete sud-est si legge “alla trasuta... ammazzai”. Nel 1902 il castello svevo divenne monumento nazionale e nel 1909 la Marina Militare occupò la parte più alta della torre, costruendo una torre meteorologica. La semplicistica struttura in arenaria un tempo era la postazione difensiva più importante della costa adriatica molisana. Al primo piano c'è il corridoio degli arcieri con molte feritoie, ho la sensazione di trovarmi proprio sull'orlo di un tumulo che si infrange sul mare e lo spazio offre sia sicurezza che collegamenti con gli elementi ruggenti. La prima notte è stata piovosa e ventosa, la struttura ospitava rumori, sbattimenti, sonagli e il tubare di piccioni in cerca di tregua sui cornicioni, leggevo nella cella del carcere borbonico e aspettavo facce amiche e fidate.

Termoli beneficia di una galleria d'arte contemporanea chiamata MACTE che ha una serie continua di mostre annuali di artisti di fama mondiale.
